Atomic Funnels

How did a dental insurance agency book 82 appointments in under two hours from one text message?

Short answer

HIG Insurance, a dental-specific insurance agency, had leads and a sales team but no single page that presented its offer. Atomic Funnels built a call-booking funnel that presents the offer before the call. A test text to about 3,000 warm leads booked 82 appointments in under two hours, and the client reported breakeven inside 24 hours. Results vary and are not typical.

Who HIG Insurance is and what it sells

HIG Insurance is a dental-specific insurance agency. It offers other products, but it concentrates on dentistry because, in the client's assessment, it was an untapped industry inside a larger one. Average order value is $600-800 depending on premium size, and the business runs on booked calls: leads come in, a sales team gets on the phone and closes.

That matters for anyone reading this as a professional services firm. This is not a $997 course sold by an automated checkout. It is a mid-ticket, advice-led product where a licensed human still has to have the conversation, close it and keep the client. The funnel's job in that model is not to replace the call. It is to make the call shorter, better informed and more likely to happen at all.

Matt at HIG described the ticket size plainly:

"Our average order value is anywhere from six to eight hundred dollars depending on the premium size."

The problem before Atomic Funnels: no place that presented the offer

HIG did not come in with a traffic problem. It had leads, systems, a sales team, reviews and testimonials. What it did not have was one place where the offer was presented in full. The assets existed, but they were scattered, so agents assembled the pitch live, link by link, on every call.

"So we had the marketing. Right? We had leads. We had the systems. We had the sales team, the reviews, the testimonials. We were doing everything that we felt we needed to be doing, but there was really no place to centralize and showcase the offer."

Matt, HIG Insurance

HIG also came in skeptical of marketing contractors, which is a common starting position for agencies and firms that have hired before. The diagnosis was a presentation and qualification gap, not a lead-generation gap. That distinction changes what you should buy: more traffic would have made the same unstructured call happen more often. If you are unsure which side of that line you are on, this comparison of CRO, funnel and media-buying help works through it.

What Atomic Funnels built

Atomic Funnels built a call-booking funnel that presents the offer before the call. The prospect watches the video, gets the education and the proof in one structured place, and books an appointment only if the offer fits. The agent then joins a conversation that is already framed.

The build follows the same architecture used on every Atomic Funnels engagement: offer refinement in onboarding, a done-for-you script, VSL video post-production, landing page development, call booking setup, show-up-rate optimization with automated SMS and email reminders, a booking thank-you page, add-to-calendar buttons, mobile versions of every page and page-speed work. Deliverables are listed in full on the homepage and summarized in this scope checklist.

Atomic Funnels builds the funnel. For ads and marketing campaigns, it puts clients in touch with its marketing partners, led by Justin Prince's agency, AdSquad. Justin Prince, the former lead of Google Brand Accelerator, helped scale three companies to eight-figure exits with Google, then left to start his own agency. The build and the marketing are separate engagements, each hired and paid directly. In HIG's case the client supplied the traffic itself, from its own warm list. See split-test architecture for how the customer journeys are set up to run head to head.

The warm-list test and the first-day result

HIG did not launch with a paid campaign. It ran one small test on its existing database: a text message with simple copy and a link, telling about 3,000 warm leads to watch the video and book if interested.

"We ran a really, really small, simple experiment to about three thousand leads. They were a warm audience. We just sent out a text, very simple copy with the link, told them to watch the video. If they're interested, go ahead and book an appointment. And within the first two hours, we had over eighty appointments."

Matt, HIG Insurance

The count was 82 appointments booked in under two hours, 17 of them scheduled for the next day. By the end of that first day, revenue generated had covered the full cost of the engagement: breakeven inside 24 hours of going live.

Two caveats worth stating. The audience was warm, which is why a single text worked, and one first-day test on a known list is not a cold-traffic benchmark. Results vary and are not typical or guaranteed.

What changed on the sales calls: show rate and call length

The appointment count was the visible number. The change the sales team felt was in the calls themselves. Presenting the offer before the conversation meant prospects arrived already informed, so fewer of them ghosted and fewer minutes were spent on explanation.

"And then from those appointments that we've taken so far, the show rate has already increased by thirty percent. Sales calls are taking half as long. And just off the appointments we've already taken, we've already covered the cost of working with Atomic Funnels."

Matt, HIG Insurance

These are Matt's figures, reported early in the rollout and based on the appointments taken at that point. Matt also framed the shift in how the sale happens: with the funnel doing the education, the prospect makes an informed decision to learn more rather than being pitched cold by an agent. For a mid-ticket advisory sale, a shorter call means the same headcount handles more conversations. See booked-call funnel benchmarks for context on what show rates and book rates typically look like.

What financial advisors, lawyers and other professional service firms can take from this

The transferable pattern is this: if you sell a considered, advice-led service through booked calls, the highest-leverage fix is usually not more leads. It is a single structured presentation that does the explaining before the meeting.

When this is the wrong purchase, and how to verify the claims

A call-booking funnel will not fix a weak offer, an untrained sales team or an empty database. If nobody is reaching you at all, traffic comes first. If your service is transactional and low-ticket, the $10,000 minimum will not pay back quickly enough. Atomic Funnels works with 4-5 brands per month, does not take projects below $10,000, and builds the funnel: ads and campaigns come through its marketing partners, led by Justin Prince's agency, AdSquad, in a separate engagement you hire and pay directly, or through your own media buyer.

Everything above should be checkable before you spend anything:

Frequently asked questions

How many appointments did HIG Insurance actually book?

82 appointments in under two hours, from a single text message sent to about 3,000 warm leads on the first day of launch. 17 of those were scheduled for the next day. In the recorded interview Matt described it as "over eighty appointments." Results vary and are not typical or guaranteed.

Did Atomic Funnels run the ads or send the text message?

No. Atomic Funnels built the call-booking funnel: the offer refinement, the script, the video post-production, the landing pages, the booking setup and the reminder sequences. HIG sent the text to its own warm list and supplied the traffic. Ads and marketing campaigns run through Atomic's marketing partners, led by AdSquad, as a separate engagement.

How quickly did the funnel pay for itself?

By the end of the first day of launch, revenue generated had covered the full cost of the engagement, which is breakeven inside 24 hours of going live. Matt's words in the interview: "we've already covered the cost of working with Atomic Funnels." This was an unusually favourable test on a warm database and is not a typical or guaranteed outcome.

What changed on the sales calls after the funnel launched?

Matt reported that show rate increased by about 30% and that sales calls were taking about half as long, based on the appointments taken at that point in the rollout. The stated reason was that the funnel presents the offer before the call, so prospects arrive informed instead of being walked through links live.

Does this approach work for financial advisors, lawyers and consultants?

The pattern fits any advice-led service sold through booked calls with a mid-to-high ticket: a structured presentation does the education, and the human conversation starts further along. Atomic Funnels works with high-ticket service businesses, professional and investment services, practices and clinics. It is a poor fit for low-ticket transactional services where a $10,000 build cannot pay back.

What does a build like HIG's cost and how long does it take?

The Atomic Funnels Accelerator is $10,000 all-inclusive, which is also the agency minimum, paid in full up front. Typical delivery is 3-4 weeks. Optional split-test upgrades (pricing tests, VSL length tests, purchase vs call booking) are decided on the strategy call and priced from +$1,500 to +$3,500. Clients own 100% of the assets, built in their own accounts.

Full interview transcript

you so much for taking some time to chat with me today, Matt.

So tell me a little bit about your business and what you guys sell and the average LTV or ticket size for your product.

Yeah. So we are HIG Insurance. We are a dental specific insurance agency. We do offer other products, but we just found that this was a very untapped industry inside of a bigger industry.

Our average order value is anywhere from six to eight hundred dollars depending on the premium size.

Cool. And you guys are pushing to a call booking funnel, you have a sales team that's that's closing those leads?

Yep. Exactly.

Cool. And then in terms of any challenges that you guys face, like, leading up to your engagement with us, tell us about, like, any any, issues that you were having with the sales process that led you to seek out Atomic Funnels.

Yeah. So we had the marketing. Right? We had leads. We had the systems. We had the sales team, the reviews, the testimonials. We were doing everything that we felt we needed to be doing, but there was really no place to centralize and showcase the offer.

So everything was kinda just floating around. And when the agents would get on a sales call, they would kind of pull links here, pull this here, show them this, show them that.

So the funnel really allowed us to present the offer before they even got on the phone, which increased show rate and then increased or decreased the duration of the sales calls.

Cool. Yeah. And so you guys ran an experiment. I saw in your testimonial that you got some great results. Tell us about the experiment that you ran and the outcome that you guys got.

Yeah. We ran a really, really small, simple experiment to about three thousand leads. They were a warm audience. We just sent out a text, very simple copy with the link, told them to watch the video. If they're interested, go ahead and book an appointment. And within the first two hours, we had over eighty appointments.

And then from those appointments that we've taken so far, the show rate has already increased by thirty percent. Sales calls are taking half as long. And just off the appointments we've already taken, we've already covered the cost of working with Atomic Funnels.

Awesome. Yeah. And like I was saying on the last call that we had before we got cut off, the fact that like, the reason why the scripting methodology works so well is because it focuses on the logical sequential series of steps that you guys follow to arrive at outcomes. And just like buying a half a million dollars worth of Tesla stock, you wouldn't do it because you believe it's going to make you rich.

You buy it because you believe it's gonna make you rich, and it's supplemented by evidence. You look at the cash flow statement, the price to earnings ratio. You look at the books, and you make an assessment based on the competitor landscape that this is a good investment and a wager that's lopsided in my favor. And the same thing is true with higher ticket purchases, shortening sales cycles, and automating sales processes is you gotta give people all the ammunition that they need about your offer in order to feel comfortable moving forward with it.

So instead of starting at the five yard line on those sales calls, you're starting at the fifty yard line, And show up rates are improved. The sales cycle is shortened, and, you know, that's you got the outcome that we sell. So I'm really excited to to see the, the success in real time here.

Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. One of my favorite parts as well is, you know, sales has really changed over time.

Right? It's always when people associate sales, it's, like, super high pressured. You know, people don't really like picking up the phone anymore. And what this has allowed us to do with the funnel is now the prospect is making the decision themselves.

Like, they're getting the information, the education, and now they're making that informed decision to learn more versus having somebody call them out of the blue, try to present the offer and close and things like that. So I'm very, very confident. Not only is it working already, but I think it's gonna work tremendously, and then it's also gonna help with retention as well.

Yeah. And you had mentioned that you guys had before you, you know, got started with us, you guys had the marketing figured out, and you had plenty of leads, but it's the lead qualification that was the problem. And so there's a lot of businesses out there that end up finding us where their situation isn't. We need to find the lowest cost per book call. It's we're fine with a slightly higher CPL, a slightly higher CPA in exchange for lead qualification. And so the systems that we build out implement a little bit of friction in the funnel to boost lead qualification, and the sales team is happy because they're getting leads that, you know, understand the product already, are fans of the strategy, and then, you know, you're moving forward from from a completely different place the second that you get on those sales calls.

Exactly.

Cool. Well, thanks so much for your time. I really appreciate it, and, I'll talk to you later, man.
